The Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives is a coalition of partner agencies in six Northwest Minnesota counties – Kittson, Norman, Mahnomen, Marshall, Polk and Red Lake. Member agencies include school districts, CAP agencies, Public Health, Social Services, Mental Health, law enforcement, corrections and county government.
The Early Childhood Task Group was formed by the Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives to facilitate the achievement of its mission:
The Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives is a coalition of public and private agencies working together to improve the lives of children and families in northwest Minnesota.
The Early Childhood Task Group will evaluate, summarize and identify the current situation relating to early childhood, which includes mental health, parenting, data collection, cultural competency, child and teen check-ups, screening and family empowerment; and to identify service gaps and methods of filling those gaps. The task group will convene to review appropriate grant opportunities, and to assist in completing appropriate grant applications.
In addition to the Early Childhood Task Group, the Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives currently has six other primary focus areas. These are adolescent chemical health, children’s mental health, disaster mental health, emergency response/crisis management, physical education, and safe schools/ healthy students.
