The Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives has recognized the need for additional focus on adolescent chemical health. Adolescents living in this region of NW Minnesota are negatively impacted by their use of chemicals. In an effort to minimize these effects, a task force addressing needs, issues and opportunities for new or expanded services was formed.
When discussing issues related to chemical health, the task group included the topic areas of violence, ATOD (alcohol, tobacco and other drugs), academics, mental health, cultural competency, data collection, discipline, restorative justice, family empowerment.
This task force reviewed the current environment and identified numerous issues youth, adolescents and providers must address in order to tackle this complex issue. The work of the task group led to the development of an Intervention work plan and a Prevention work plan. Both of these plans are posted on this site.
Thank you to the members of the task group for their efforts in developing work plans to address this complex issue.
