The Norman County East School District serves 408 students in the communities of Twin Valley and Gary. The elementary school serving 212 students in grades K-6 is located in Gary. The junior/senior high school is located in Twin Valley and serves 184 students in grades 7-12. The Norman County East School District staff of 102 includes 44 certified teachers and 58 paraprofessionals/support staff who provide classroom instruction.
Special education services are provided through the Area Special Education Cooperative. The District employs one full-time guidance counselor who serves grades K-12, splitting time between the two school sites. The District also employs a full-time curriculum coordinator who helps in the development of the curricula of both sites.? In addition to a comprehensive academic curriculum, the Norman County East School District offers a variety of extracurricular activities to students. The sports program includes football, basketball, track, baseball, and golf for male students, and volleyball, basketball, track, golf and softball for female students. Vocal and instrumental music training is available, both as part of the curriculum and special performance groups. Speech, theater and knowledge bowl, and yearbook activities are also available.
The Norman County East School District is an integral part of the communities it serves. Parents are encouraged to participate in their children's education through participation in the PTO, school board and other parent committees frequently created to plan for special activities. Parents are also invited to the parent-teacher conferences held twice each school year.?
