Seven Public Programs - One Simple Screening Toolkit by the Children's Defense Fund and the UofM's Children, Youth and Family Consortium
A simple web-based screening tool helps determine potential eligibility for a variety of Minnesota public programs including health care coverage, child care, school meals, and tax credits.
The on-line questionnaire takes 10 minutes to complete and the web tool calculates potential eligibility for:
- Medical Assistance (MA), General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC), and MinnesotaCare (MnCare)
- Basic Sliding Fee Child Care Assistance
- The School Meal Program
- Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Workinig Family Credit (WFC)
Designed by public program experts, the website was organized and edited into a simple, easty-to-use format. It puts the right program information all at your fingertips. It allows you to:
- Get program descriptions, eligibility criteria, and direct links to the organizations that administer each of these programs
- Download applications for tax credits and Minnesota health care programs
- Clarify the entry/access points to programs, get tips on how to make the application process more efficient, and find community resources that are available to help families through the application process
- Find out what type of verifications or documents are needed to apply to the programs
- Find additional resources and links to programs on income support, housing, nutrition and low-cost health care
Designed for social workers, community volunteers and service providers who work with low-income families, the web tool is simple, fast and efficient. A collaborative effort between the Children's Defense Fund Minnesota and the University of Minnesota's Children, Youth and Family Consortium, the website is most effective when it is part of a community-wide action program to support working families.
