PRESS RELEASE: Annual Community Mental Health Awards Announced
The Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2005 awards. These annual awards spotlight excellence, express our core values, and publicly say "thank you" to those that make substantial contributions to the field. The awards were presented before about 550 participants at the association's Annual Community Mental Health Conference held September 28-30, 2005 in Duluth, Minnesota.
The Community Collaboration & Interagency Cooperation Award was presented to the Northwest Minnesota Council of Collaboratives, an affiliation of over 40 public and private not-for-profit organizations. This award recognizes a partnership which demonstrates how collaboration at the local level, across services providers and geographic boundaries, can effectively impact community norms and provide a comprehensive array of services in five very rural counties.
The Public Advocacy & Government Relations Leadership Award was presented to Louise Brown of Children's Mental Health Partnership. Louis is recognized for her leadership in advancing the public policy agenda of community mental health through advocacy and government relations.
The Public Advocacy Leadership Award was presented to Kris Flaten, Chair of the State Advisory Council of Mental Health. Kris is recognized for her numerous contributions to influence and improve public opinion and policy on mental health.
The Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing leadership and services that strengthen member agencies, improve service quality, and foster a unified voice for service providers and clients. The association's twenty-nine members, who employ more than 4,000 professionals, provide a broad array of community-based services to about 125,000 clients each year at over 120 sites statewide.
